Record the Feeling of the Sun
Record the Feeling of the Sun, 2020, Collaborative call and response drawings of various materials, each 4.5 x 5.75 inches framed. As part of my short residency at SOIL gallery in the summer of 2020 I asked friends to record their visual interpretations of the sun/summer. This is part of a conceptual collaboration I’ve practiced since high school that celebrates, honors and illuminates the unique perspectives people hold. I wasn’t quite sure what I was going to do with these small works, but I was deeply humbled by the contributions. In response, I recorded how each work made my body feel while looking at it along with the date, current temperature and humidity. I then sent the framed response back to each friend as a thank you.
